电影中主角的出场堪称经典,本该严肃正式的雕塑揭幕典礼,却被一个藏在布下的流浪汉搅得难以收场,卓别林扮演的流浪汉在人群上方闲庭信步,下面的官僚和绅士们急得手足无措,亦庄亦谐的对比不得不让人佩服卓别林的的伟大之处:关注社会底层的小人物,士商权贵皆是陪衬,忠于平民才是忠于艺术。

影片中出现的形形色色的各种角色都是那个时代社会的缩影。
