很早就有了“有钱能使鬼推磨”的传说。
晋中有“有钱能使鬼,而况于人乎”。

这可能是最早的有钱可使鬼推磨的传说。
宋朝时,有的人死后的亡魂要到阴曹地府,下十八层地狱,经过三十六道鬼门关之说。
相传人死后根据生前所作所为的德性,要在鬼磨关上受轻重不同的碾轧,这是最痛苦的一关。
死者的家人们为让推磨的磨鬼们手下留情,使亲人的亡魂尽快经过鬼磨关,就给磨鬼们送烧纸钱,磨鬼们接到钱后就放走亡魂,只推空磨。
这是关于“有钱可使鬼推磨”的一个较广的传说。

成语一共有5万多条,其中96%为四字格式,也有三字、五字、六字、七字等以上成语。
有的成语甚至是分成两部分,中间有逗号隔开。
成语的来源有五个方面:(一)神话传说:如夸父逐日和精卫填海;(二)寓言故事:如刻舟求剑和狐假虎威;(三)历史故事:如负荆请罪和破釜沉舟;(四)是文人作品,如老骥伏枥和青出于蓝;(五)是外来文化,如功德无量和火中取栗。
俗语以形象为主体;成语以精练为特色。
俗语多为完整的句子,长短不一,运用时可以变通;成语多为四个字的稳定结构,形式整齐。
俗语流行于人民群众的口头上,文字上保持着通俗的特点;成语多用作书面语,文字上趋向典雅。
俗语语句结构如果趋向整齐,就有可能转化为成语;成语如果增加形象化的成分,就有可能转化为俗语。
俗语转化为成语,仍然可以保持它的形象性;成语转化为俗语,如果缺少形象,就要加以补充,往往转化为歇后语。
俗语与成语,二者既有联系,又有区别。
俗语有俗语的优点;成语有成语的长处。
俗语使得描写生动活泼,成语使得论述铿锵有力,都值得很好学习。
有些图书把俗语、谚语并称为俗谚,把它们汇编在一起。
汇编在一起是可以理解的,但二者并不相等。
谚语只是俗语的一部分,它是一些总结知识经验,寓有思想意义的俗语。
4、谚语是在人民群众中广泛流传的固定语句,是人民群众在长期生活实践中总结出来的经验和教训的结晶。
谚语虽然简单通俗,但反映的道理却非常深刻,一般都能揭示客观事理,富于教育意义,如“天下乌鸦一般黑、众人拾柴火焰高、吃不穷、穿不穷,不会算计一世穷”等。
谚语是人民群众所喜闻乐见的一种语言样式,句式匀称,音调和谐,具体通俗,形象生动。
所以,适当地运用谚语,能够增强表达效果。
但是,有不少谚语含有剥削阶级或封建迷信的意识和偏见,如“龙生龙,凤生凤,老鼠生儿会打洞”,显然,这是应该剔除的糟粕。
谚语与成语的主要区别在于:谚语一般是句子,成语大多是词组;谚语一般显得通俗,成语大多显得典雅。
农谚往往带有地域性,成语具有全民性。
歇后语,是我们中国人特有的智慧与趣味语言,也是民间爱用的一种语法。
歇后语是广大人民在生活实践中创造的一种特殊语言形式。
由前后两部分构成的固定性口语。
前一部分是比喻或隐语,像谜语里的“谜面”;后一部分是对前一部分的说明解释,像谜语里的“谜底”,是表达意义的重要部分。
两部分之间有间歇,间歇之后的一部分常常不说出来,好让人猜想它的含义,所以叫作歇后语。
人们也常常把它称为“俏皮话”。
歇后语分为喻意的和谐音的两类。
喻意的歇后语,它的前部分是一个比喻,后部分是对前部分的解释。
歇后语具有鲜明的民族特色,浓郁的生活气息,幽默风趣,耐人寻味,为广大群众所喜闻乐见。
例如:一个巴掌打不响 -- <孤掌难鸣>;懒婆娘的裹脚 -- <又长又臭>。
在一般的语言中。
通常只要说出前半截,歇去后半截,就可以领会和猜出它的本意,所以称它为歇后语。
如“大海里捞针——无处寻、快刀切豆腐——两面光”。
谐音的歇后语,它的后一部分借助音同或音近现象表达意思,这是一种“言在此而意在彼”、妙语双关的现象,如“旗杆顶上绑鸡毛——好大的掸(胆)子、窗户上吹喇叭——鸣(名)声在外”。
说话或写作中恰当地运用歇后语,可以使语言表达得形象活泼,饶有风趣,给读者留下鲜明深刻的印象,收到较好的表达效果。
但是,要选择内容健康的,抛弃内容庸俗落后的。
对于内容健康的歇后语,也要根据作品所要表达的意思和语言环境恰当地使用,不能滥用。
不宜在庄严的场合里使用。
如果用得牵强,用得生硬,那就要弄巧成拙了。
5、格言是具有教育意义的警句。
一股出于名人之手,而在群众中广泛流传。
例如“穷不失义,富而不骄(《孟子》)、兼听则明,偏信则暗(《资治通鉴》)、满招损,谦受益”(《尚书》)。
格言意在阐发事理,多为警策之辞,所以在议论中引用格言,能够给人以启示,更富于说服力。
格言在形式上与谚语解相似,都是完整的句子,在内容上一般都具有教育意义。
但二者又有区别:从来源看,谚语多出自群众集体创造,格言则往往出自名人之手;从语体看,谚语多为口语,而格言多为书面语。
综上所述,谚语,俚语(描述性的俗语),歇后语,这三部分构成俗语的整体。
俗语是歇后语、谚语、顺口溜等的总称。
